Caracas, 5th July 2015 (MPPRE) – 204 years have passed since signing the Declaration of our independence from the Spanish colony. Since 1811 the basis for creating s sovereign country, free from any external oppression, has been formed.
This day is celebrated solemnly in the National Assembly in which participated the President, Nicolas Maduro.
A fusillade of cannon shots opened the official part of the event. Later, MP Fernando Soto Rojas joined with the words: “We have appropriated the Liberator’s and Hugo Chavez’s heritage. The nation has shown political initiative through the civic – military union” which have preceded the reading of the Independence Act from 5th July 1811.
